MONDAY NIGHTS AT 6:30
MONDAYS @ 6:30 PM
work meets worship...
On Monday nights during the school year we gather in the undercroft of Trinity Church on the Green at 6:30pm to mark the beginning of the work week with worship. Together we are engaging in a way of worshiping God that is both fresh and ancient as we pray, listen, sing, serve, engage with the scriptures, and break bread - all around a seriously delicious meal. It's that simple - and highly participatory! Anyone who wants to help cook, set up, sing in our informal choir, or just hang out is welcome to come beginning at 5:45 PM.
This service resembles the earliest followers of Jesus who would meet in their homes for Eucharist ("yoo-kuh-rist") - the sacred feast instituted by Jesus in which we break a common loaf and pour a common cup to remember and participate in Jesus' own life - broken and poured out for us on the cross. Through this meal we are strengthened and unified as the living Body of Jesus in the world.
"Eucharist" actually comes from the Greek word for "thanksgiving." In a sense, our Monday night gatherings like a Thanksgiving meal with the family of God - complete with abundant food and laughter, old family stories, eccentric relatives, awkward silences, screaming kids, heated discussion, and plenty of joy and chaos to go around.
We're far from perfect, but we do our best to admit when we mess up, practice forgiveness, welcome strangers, offer thanks, and abide in love - all because we believe God first loved us. We are very much a community still in formation. The best way to get to know us is to just come and see - we're saving you a seat!
